Would you like to learn what it takes to professionally work with animals? Consider attending a Zoo Career Counseling session.
Virtual counseling sessions take place over Zoom and are typically 30 minutes in length. You will learn what educational path (high school and college) and experience (volunteering and internships) are necessary to pursue a career with animals and get your questions answered.
In-person counseling sessions take place at the Zoo and last about two hours. During the first hour, learn what educational path (high school and college) and experience (volunteering and internships) are necessary to pursue a career with animals. During the second hour, we spend time on the grounds and behind the scenes in areas like our nutrition center, veterinary clinic, and education center to understand how and where zoo professionals work.
Cost:
Virtual counseling session: $15
In-person counseling session: (fee includes participating student and a parent/guardian if required)
Zoo members: $25
Non-members: $30
*Note: Due to limited staff availability and the challenges of individuals accompanying Zoo staff in restricted areas, we are not able to offer multi-hour/day long job shadowing experiences at the Zoo. We are only able to provide Career Counseling Sessions.
