Curly haired tarantulas have an exoskeleton surrounding their body. This exoskeleton is hard to protect the internal organs. The exoskeleton cannot grow, so the tarantula has to molt as it gets larger.
A Hair-Raising Experience
Tarantulas have hair covering their bodies. The hairs have barbs and are used to defend the tarantula from predators. These barbs can cause severe skin irritation, swelling, and even blindness if they get in the eyes.
