You can tell the difference between a male and female gibbon by their color. Males are black and females are a tan/yellow color. The pair sings beautiful duets together each morning to announce their territory and can be heard up to a mile away. Buff-cheeked gibbons are considered lesser apes (not monkeys) and are native to Southeast Asia in countries such as Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.
